The Conference will be held entirely within the Geography Department at Durham University. This includes two lecture theatres and a number of smaller seminar rooms. We will also make use of the ‘Gordon Manley Room’, the geography department’s social space. On site, the Calman Learning Centre contains a small cafe that will be open all day.
The department is located at Durham University’s Science Site on Stockton Road and South Road, to the south-west of the city centre. Parking is available on site during the conference for those with accessibility requirements, as well as limited places for others available on a first come, first served basis. If you require a parking permit, please state so on your registration form.
In addition, parking is also available at the following locations:
Durham Park and Ride, Howlands. This Park and Ride is located on South Road (A177) by Ustinov College. Parking is free, though you need to purchase a park and ride ticket (£1.70). The Park and Ride is a ten minute walk to the Geography Department downhill in the direction of Durham, or one stop on the park and ride bus (get off opposite the ‘New Inn’ pub after the second set of traffic lights). This site is only open 7.00am – 7.00pm, so cars cannot be left over night; however, on-street parking on nearby Elvet Hill Road is free between 6.00pm and 8.00am.
Pay and Display co-street parking is available across Durham City. The nearest locations to the Geography Department are on Stockton Road, Quarryheads Lane, Church Street, Potters Bank, Elvet Hill Road, Hallgarth Street and Whinney Hill. Parking costs between 20p and 40p per half hour, depending on location. Parking costs apply between 8.00am and 6.00pm, Monday-Saturday
