‘Britain On The Move’ conference at RGS-IBG: Call for volunteers

The Population Geography Research Group (PopGRG) of the RGS-IBG (PopGRG) will be organising a two-day conference: ‘Britain On The Move’: Migration And Mobility Processes And Patterns In The 21st Century’.

The conference will take place at the Headquarters of the Royal Geographical Society-Institute of British Geographers (RGS-IBG), London, 17-18 December 2012.

The conference will include 9 sessions (each with presentations from 3 leading scholars in the field) on: i) Lifecourse/family and Migration; ii) Education and Migration; iii) Ethnicity/race and Migration; iv) Housing and Migration; v) Employment and Migration; vi) Health and Migration; vii) Lifestyle and Migration; viii) Performing migration, and; ix) Ageing and Migration.

The PopGRG have obtained funding from the RGS-IBG Research Groups Grant competition to provide travel bursaries of £150 each to attend the conference.  If you obtain a travel bursary your registration costs will be waived by the conference organisers.

We are seeking 9 volunteers to attend the conference.  As part of your attendance, you will be required to take brief notes at one of the sessions, and to feed back to facilitators of two teaching and learning workshops on ‘Teaching Migration’ at the conference, funded by GEES HEA. This will involve making notes of the key themes that could be taught at university.

This is a great opportunity to hear experts in these fields.

If you are interested in attending the conference and would like to obtain a travel bursary or for further information, please contact me via email at S.L.Balsdon@lboro.ac.uk.

Kind regards,
